Books for Babies

Books for babies are like teddies and toys. Even if they choose to chew them and play with them rather than listen, that’s ok. It’s the fun and enjoyment that matter most.

Reading to babies is more like telling a story and having a lovely chat while engaging with a book. It is the sound of our voices and the cuddles that give babies the feeling of security and contentment.

As babies get older they love looking at colourful pictures:

  • Talk about the pictures and draw attention to details
  • Choose board books that are easy for little hands to handle. Look for clear illustrations with simple stories, rhymes and songs
